last year she was only 2 weeks old, so this was her 1st time visiting santa!

a new dolly! maya was in heaven.. we got her a shopping cart (from santa) and while wrapping gifts at the last minute and packing up for carlsbad for the weekend, we forgot to put it in the car! i was so bummed, but didn't notice til we were almost there. she could have cared less, i gave it to her a few days later when we were home and she loved it :)

we had a fire in our kitchen the week before christmas! long story short, i was cooking some tempura shrimp and had a lid on the oil so it wouldn't splatter– anyway, i left the lid on too long and when i took it off the pan burst into flames. good thing we had a fire extinguisher under the kitchen sink and i was able to put it out right away. greg was walking in the door from work while all of this was happening. so the knob on the oven (for the burner) melted off so we couldn't turn the oven off.. (we were too scared to pull it out and unplug it).. so, the fire dept came out and unhooked everything. the flames were not even that big but made a HUGE mess. and, since i used the fie extinguisher, there was dust everywhere.. which is super toxic... especially with a 1yr. old running around. so, we were in a hotel for the next 4 nights until a restoration company was able to clean up everything. here are a few more pics.. such a hassle! make sure you have a fire extinguisher!!! our whole place would have burned down if we didn't use it. oh, AND renters insurance.. we were so lucky we had that.

they had to take everything out of our living room to clean. glad everything (for the most part) is back to normal now. we are still missing some cabinets, but have a stove again.
